A Love Story Written in Tiny Toes: A Newborn Photos at Home with Giovanna, Alvin & Their Little Miracle

An at-home newborn photo session is genuinely lovely. Entering a family home for those few priceless weeks is like seeing the most private version of a love tale come to life. That's exactly what I got to photograph recently with Giovanna, Alvin, and their beautiful baby girl.

I entered their house to beautiful soft lighting coming in through the nursery window which made for beautifully lit photos. It felt like a warm hug, this sanctuary of soothing neutrals and accents from nature. It was Giovanna, though, who really stole the scene as she held her sleeping baby girl with an expression of unadulterated love. Natural flow was the goal for this session. We got lovely moments of Giovanna nursing her baby, of Alvin watching his expanding family with pride, and of the little things that make a newborn so fascinating—the soft down on their cheeks, the gentle curl of fingers.

There were laughs, a few diaper changes (of course!), and a touching scene in which Giovanna delicately placed her wedding band next to her daughter's incredibly little hand.Though small in nature, it said a lot about the relationship they were already developing.

The chance to catch a family's soul in their own setting is what I love most about in-home newborn photos. Their own tale is told in part by the nursery with its own touches, the sunlight coming in through well-known windows, and the cozy turmoil of a new life settling in.

Giovanna and Alvin, thank you for letting me photograph such a beautiful chapter in your lives and for inviting me into your lovely house. These pics are a monument to the love that envelops your priceless daughter, not simply pictures. Congratulation on your expanding family, and I hope you enjoy these pictures for many years.
